If you follow natural health trends, you’ve likely heard that CBN and CBG are the next big things from hemp and cannabis plants.
So do you think CBDA will be the next trend in natural health? Quite possibly!
CBDA is the precursor to CBD. According to Leafly, “CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) is one of many compounds produced by cannabis and hemp. Abundant in the live plants of CBD varieties, it converts to the better known cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol) over time and when exposed to heat.”
Here are some points to help you understand CBDA further:
- Scientists learned in 2018 that CBDA may have the potential to help treat depression. In a rat study, CBDA helped with lessening stress- and anxiety-driven behavior.
- CBDA has shown to be more effective than CBD in treating nausea. In a study with rats, “CBDA appears to be able to reduce emetic attacks and simultaneously increase the latency of the emesis onset in rats in response to movement with a more powerful effect than CBD,” says an article in the journal Molecules.
- Like THC and CBD, CBDA impacts the endocannabinoid system. But it does not attach onto CB1 and CB2 receptors. “Instead, CBDA interacts with the endocannabinoid system by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme. COX-2 enzymes are associated with inflammation after an injury or infection, so by blocking COX-2 enzymes, CBDA can relieve inflammation and associated pain,” explains Leafly.
