Many of our customers are concerned about their quality of sleep, and it’s understandable – between work, raising a family and getting through a busy day, we need sleep to function properly! Sleep-deprived individuals just cannot fall asleep because of racing thoughts; or they wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep. Can you relate to this? Here are a few tips to try if you’re having trouble sleeping:
- Infuse your hot bath with a soothing bath bomb. Run a hot bath at night and try a bath bomb infused with lavender. According to the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, “Lavender has a long history of medicinal use and is suggested to possess anticonvulsant, antidepressive, anxiolytic, sedative, and calming properties.” Hemp is another soothing ingredient to look out for in a bath bomb, as it’s an excellent anti-inflammatory for sore muscles and joints; in turn, this will help you relax for nighttime sleep.
- Take a magnesium supplement. Consider adding a magnesium supplement to your vitamin regime. Magnesium is known for helping calming down nerves or reducing running thoughts. According to Healthline, “On a chemical level, magnesium aids this process by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the system responsible for getting you calm and relaxed.” Speak to your doctor to see if a magnesium supplement is right for you.
- Reset your sleep-wake cycle with melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that regulates our sleep-wake cycles. If you have a low level of this hormone, a melatonin supplement may help improve your quality of sleep, prevent or reduce jet lag, or even reduce the amount of time it takes to fall asleep. If you’re unsure whether or not melatonin is a good fit for you, we advise visiting your doctor first.
- Relieve sore joints with a pain-relieving topical or herbal gel. If you can’t sleep because you’re simply in pain, you’re not alone. At Canna Relief, our educators advise customers to use a topical or herbal gel at night to alleviate soreness. Natural, soothing ingredients to look out for include: hemp seed, arnica, juniper, lavender, and even Traditional Chinese Medicine-based herbs.
At Canna Relief, we carry bath bombs, topicals and herbal rubs for sore joints, magnesium supplements and melatonin. For more information about which products can help you sleep better at night, contact us here.
