“Can I get high from hemp CBD?”
At Canna Relief, this is a question our customers ask us on a daily basis.
And the answer is simply no.
Scientifically speaking, hemp CBD contains less than 0.3% THC. This isn’t enough THC to cause any psychoactivity.
Think of hemp as a distant cousin of cannabis. According to the author of Healing with Hemp CBD Oil, Earl Mindell, hemp is a “variety of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant – a term most people associate with its close relative, cannabis.”
However, hemp and cannabis contain different DNA. Cannabis will get you high because it contains much higher amounts of THC. Though f you’re seeking a “more mellow, clearheaded experience”, The Leafly Guide to Cannabis suggests choosing a 1:1 strain, which is equally balanced with THC and CBD. As Leafly explains, this is “a balance commonly chosen by those who are sensitive to the anxious side effects of THC as CBD itself exerts anti-anxiety effects.”
If you’re looking for a recreational high, no, you will not get that feeling from hemp CBD. However, if you want a calming effect to relieve anxiety, pain and inflammation, hemp CBD may be able to help.
