Cannabis Based Pain Management
in Mississauga
As recreational cannabis becomes increasingly accepted, we are seeing more people turning to medical cannabis products in Mississauga such as CBD oil throughout Canada.

How Can Cannabis Help Pain Management?
People typically use cannabis products such as CBD oil for pain management of arthritis, cancer treatments, migraine headaches, and chronic pain, to name a few. Cannabis-based products are usually made from the CBD inherent in the cannabis plant, with very little or no THC present.
In other words, most cannabis-based products will NOT get you high. At the same time, many people DO experience greater pain management, such as less severe side effects of cancer from their chemotherapy treatments, such as reduced vomiting and improved appetite.
Does Medical Cannabis Offer Pain Management for Arthritis?
The Arthritis Society hosts an enormous amount of information about the effects of CBD and THC on our body and how cannabis helps. At the risk of oversimplifying, CBD and THC “trick” our minds into believing or not believing that we are experiencing pain. It is thought that CBD triggers “activates serotonin receptors that are responsible for pain regulation” and THC “promotes the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals in our bodies”[1].
The Arthritis Society goes on to say that “it’s believed that CBD can reduce inflammation throughout the body” and sums up their findings on how medical cannabis may offer pain management for arthritis with this passage:
“Cannabinoids interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system, which can affect inflammation, immune function, appetite, heart function, memory, and mood. While medical cannabis can’t cure arthritis or slow disease progression, there are studies that demonstrate it can help relieve arthritis pain as well as address sleep issues and anxiety.[2]”

Check with Canna Relief Canada and Your Doctor Before Self-medicating
We should remember though, as the Arthritis Society reminds us, that it is never a good idea to self-medicate, and we should always check with a doctor or professional such as an educator at Canna Relief Canada in Mississauga before taking any new medications. That can help to ensure that you get the medical cannabis that is right for your pain management and in the correct dosage.
